Let’s Talk Basil:
Fresh is best when it comes to basil! Growing it yourself in a raised bed herb garden is great, but when that doesn’t quite fit into my lifestyle I find buying basil plants the cheapest method – keeping one or two on my porch or counter and picking leaves as needed are always available when I purchase from Supplier Joe’s (typically lasting about one month of pickings at $2.99; shorter shelf-life than just picking on my own!). An already picked bunch costs $4.99 at most grocery stores while remaining fresh for several days compared with two!
